Outside of the Container: 5 Multi-Purpose Uses for Organization Products

Thinking outside the box is a skill professional organizers use almost every day to ensure every space in a client’s house is being utilized in a way that is functional, maximizing space, and aesthetically pleasing.  With so many products out there meant for organization, it can be extremely overwhelming to know what is going to work best in each space. Between the small closet that is losing half its space, because it sits awkwardly behind a wall, and the under the sink space that has awkward plumbing, it can be challenging to know what will truly work.

While great products are made for almost any space you can imagine, sometimes they just aren’t what you need, or they simply don’t fit the space because, unfortunately, your builder probably wasn’t thinking about what great organization you could have under your bathroom sink.

Luckily, stores like the Container Store have so many amazing products that you can always find something that works; sometimes you just have to think outside the box, or in this case the container. Below are five of my favorite products from the Container Store that are advertised for one purpose but can be utilized in many ways!

Like-It Stackable Drawer Storage

Originally advertised for the purpose of organizing clothes, supplies, or crafts; these drawers are one of my absolute favorites for so many organizational needs! Not only do they look great, but they work great. They come in a variety of sizes that are all compatible for stacking with one another to make a totally custom system. My favorite way to use this product is for under the sink organization. They even have a size tall enough to hold most bottles standing up right, but slim enough to fit on the side of all that plumbing.

Madesmart Expandable Pantry Shelf

Originally advertised for the purpose of organizing cans and spices in the pantry, this expandable 3-tiered shelf works great for any deep space where items in the back may be forgot or hard to see! While I definitely use this item for spices and other pantry goods I implement them, equally as often, in medicine cabinets and closets.

Mini Command Hooks

Originally advertised for hanging Christmas lights, these command hooks in particular are perfect for hanging necklaces! As most of my clients know, I believe every house should have a box of command hooks and I always have them with me just in case. They are so versatile and can be used without any worry about damage. The larger size hooks can also be used to hang your hair dryer and other hair tools that otherwise take up a large portion of a drawer.

Anchor Hocking Glass Canister

Originally advertised for kitchen organization, these containers are perfect for creating an aestheticallypleasing and organized office or craft space. Truly the options are limitless, some of my favorite ways I use them is to organize art supplies, sewing supplies, and gift tags.

 Clear Stackable Sweater Drawer

Originally advertised for sweater and closet organization, I use these organizers in pantries, bathrooms, and garages all the time; basically anywhere you may have small items that need easy separation. One of my favorite uses for this item is for organizing first aid and medicine. They come with slid in separators that allow you to create smaller compartments within each drawer!
